Why a professional voice over is crucial

Have you ever experienced this? You are watching a high quality video clip and all of a sudden the voice over kicks in and that could have been spoken by your next door neighbor?

The quality of the voice over is absolutely crucial!

See here for 5 comparisons and differences of a professional speaker versus “the colleague just speaks that.”

QUALITY
At the top of the list is quality. Professional voiceover artists undergo demanding voiceover training. And here again, a distinction is made between divisions. Is the voice needed for radio, TV or a podcast? Because here, too, there are considerable differences in the training programs.

PROFESSIONALISM
Anyone who has been in a sound booth knows that working with professional voice actors can be challenging. In addition, a whole team is present in a sound booth; consisting of sound engineer, project manager(s) and the speaker.

Professional speakers know the process and their job.

With an untrained voice actor, recording will not only be time-consuming, but will cost more and the result will not be satisfactory.

EMOTIONS
Speakers must convey emotions, depending on the script. Radio commercials are a good example of this. The target group sees nothing, but is only acoustically introduced to the product, the company or the service. Besides the background music, the voice over is crucial for the quality of the radio spot.
And it’s the same with short commercials. If the voice does not convey emotions, the message will not reach the target group.

TECHNIQUE
If you do not have a complete team and a recording studio at your disposal, there is very often the possibility that the speakers themselves own or know a studio or have basic technical equipment. A professional speaker knows how to do this and you could book an all-in-one package. With an amateur speaker, you are on thin ice in terms of more working time, less professionalism and in the end it does not go down well with your target group.

TIME
Final it may well be that you lose a lot of time with a colleague speaking the spot. Because, if the advertising clip is not received, it must be re-scored and thus you have invested too much time and too much money.

Of course, the final decision is yours, but after these 5 arguments your decision should be quasi clear, right? 🙂
